Our Family Services program provides crisis intervention, counselling, mediation, case conferencing and day-to-day support to youth and adults to decrease the risk of violence, abuse, exploitation, homelessness, mental health crisis, and hospitalization. Our staff members are trained in Risk Assessment and Holistic Crisis Intervention and Planning. They can also provide you with a wide range of referrals to other community services and long term support.
Intimate partner violence involving strangulation is rising in Peel Region, and the danger cannot be overstated.
• In 2023, Peel Regional Police laid 617 strangulation-related charges.
• In 2024, Peel Regional Police laid 553 charges.
• Strangulation is one of the strongest predictors of future lethal violence.
