Become a Board Member of Indus Community Foundation

The Board of Indus Foundation is made up of dedicated volunteers who are committed to supporting the needs of the communities we serve. It is comprised of visionary individuals from all backgrounds who contribute to our vision, mission and strategic plan of Indus Community Services.

 

The board is a governance board and provides leadership and oversees the fundraising initiatives of the organization. The board does not manage the day-to-day operations of the organization. Directors are asked to support fundraising efforts both personally and within their networks.

General Requirements

About the Organization

Indus Community Services is an accredited, non-for-profit community benefit organization that has served local communities for 40 years. The agency is a registered charity supported by its donors and by all three levels of government. Indus, through its professional staff of 140+ personnel, are leaders in providing culturally appropriate services to newcomers, families, women and seniors. Learn more about Indus here.

General Requirements

  • Commit to the vision, mission and guiding values of the organization.
  • Participate in the on-going development and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Attend monthly Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
  • Strong networking and communication skills.
  • Have previous experience leading business or social organizations, and/or serving on a Board.
  • Have a strong understanding of the needs of the communities the organization serves.
  • Integrity and commitment to represent the best interests of the organization.
  • Adhere to the organization’s governance policies, procedures & bylaws.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible all applicants must be or become a member of Indus by March 31st, 2026

Competencies Required

Indus is committed to establishing diverse leadership and seeks Directors that reflect the pluralism of the communities we serve. We welcome diversity and encourage applications from individuals who have competency in one or more of the following areas:

  • Risk Mitigation and Governance
  • Human Resources and Legal
  • Finance
  • Information Technology

Board Terms

As per Indus’ By-laws, a Board Member position is for a 3-year term with a maximum of 2 consecutive terms. We are currently seeking to fill two vacancies on the Board.
